At the opposite extreme from Best Concept award winner Dodge Challenger is the gigantic Chrysler Imperial concept. At 17 inches longer and six inches taller than a 300C, the Imperial pushes the Chrysler brand to near-Rolls-Royce heights, both in size and luxury. While a production flagship based on the Imperial would be priced significantly higher than anything in the Chrysler lineup, it would just as surely set a whole new benchmark for affordable luxury.
Review Access reports that reaction to Chrysler's Imperial, which debuted Sunday, has been mixed, with people either loving or hating the big boulevard cruiser. A few highlights:
- 5.7L HEMI V8 with 340 hp/390 lb./ft. torque
- based on a 300C platform
- RWD with a 5-speed automatic
- wheels are 22-inchers
- projector-beam free-standing headlamps
- LED gunsight taillamps
Review Access describes the interior as "gorgeous, with burled wood and aluminum accents, a 2-gauge cluster, skylight, headliner with LED "moodlighting" plus leather and suede trim.
